Types of Vampirism
There are really only two main categories of Vampirism: Sanguine and Pranic. These two fields branch out into other sub-groups of Vampirism. Active vampirism within the vampire subculture includes both blood consumption, which is commonly referred to as sanguinarian vampirism, and psychic vampirism, through which the practitioners are drawing spiritual nourishment from pranic energy. Many people have trouble getting energy in every day life. There are diabetics who cannot maintain their insulin levels or people suffering from depression that constantly feel fatigued, getting up in the morning can be the hardest part of their day. People with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome will almost always resemble vampires because of their energy levels. If you think of vampires and non-vampires as glasses of wine, the metaphor becomes easier to understand. With non-vampires and vampires alike, their glasses can be half empty or they can be half full. However, with a non-vampire's wine glass there's always room for more and the wine level changes naturally and constantly. With a vampire's wine goblet there is a permanent crack in the side of the glass that was put there by some sort of disturbance, whether it's a metaphysical manifestation or from real life trauma, and there will always be a constant leakage of wine. If the glass's wine level isn't maintained, through means of continuing to refill through feeding, the vampire will start to exhibit lethargy, sleepiness, even illness, and a general lack of energy. A vampire may continue to refill their glass anytime but it will always have a crack; the glass will always leak. That is the difference between non-vampires and vampires. The people suffering from medical conditions like Diabetes and Depression also have a crack in their glasses but it can be resolved, treated, or maintained through medications and therapy.
Sanguine Vampirism
Sanguinarian Vampirism is the practice of imbibing blood from another human being. Keeping in mind that blood is an emetic, Sanguinarians (commonly referred to as a “sang” or “sang vampire”) are only able to consume a teaspoon or two in one given sitting. The most common of tendencies in a Sang vampire is the compulsive need (hunger, if you will) for energy. This need for blood is a physical and/or mental one. Sangs have a rigorous and stringent system that their potential donors have to go through, including blood tests, among other things. Sanguinarians are probably the cleanest and most cautious feeders of the vampire culture. Most Sang vampires find that drinking blood is not only a more aesthetic and tangible method by being able to see the blood, but it is essential because they're feeding directly from someone's life force or energy. It's easier to imagine the energy coming into their body when they can see where it comes from. This energy that Sanguine Vampires feed off of is Prana, it is the same thing that Pranic vampires feed of off, they just use a more direct method.
Pranic Vampirism
A Pranic Vampire is someone who feeds off of Prana in a manner that does not include drinking blood. These types of vampires are also called Psychic Vampires but as a whole, people have started to shy away from using the term “Psychic Vampire.” However, you will still hear both Pranic and “Psi” being tossed around synonymously. Pranic Vampirism can be a bit tricky, some people do not realize, or will not acknowledge that they are Pranic feeders. These are the people you meet at school, at the movies, in your own house, anywhere; they are the people who seem to suck out all the energy in the room, the people who are capable of changing our moods almost instantly and rather abruptly. These types of Pranic Vampires may be unaware or unintentionally feeding off of “innocent bystanders,” oblivious to what their doing. People who are aware that they are Pranic vampires are usually quite skilled in the areas of energy working and are able to vigilantly monitor, control and maintain their energy fluctuations. When it comes to feeding, the Pranic Vampires differ from the Sanguine vampires; Pranic feeders will target a person (usually ethically by receiving the individual's permission first), group of persons, plants, or anything living that has life energy, and will begin to draw energy from those sources. Usually this is done through visualizations and energy work.
Hybrid (Sanguine and Pranic)
Hybrid Vampires are a combination of both Pranic and Sanguine practices. They will use either of the above described techniques to feed.
Elemental Vampirism
Elemental Vampirism is a seldom talked about branch of Vampirism. It falls under Pranic Vampirism or Energy Vampirism. An elemental vampire is someone who feeds off of nature and the elements such as earth, water, air, and fire. These types of vampires may also feed off of the ambient energy of the Universe. A heightened or over-anxious state can be produced by feeding from severe climatic events or changes, such as hurricanes, fires, floods or even thunderstorms. An elemental vampire feeds off of these very basic and nurturing energies. These sources are very abundant and inexhaustible and can be found virtually anywhere you look. An elemental vampirism usually incorporates a lot of energy working practices, such as grounding and centering. This type of feeding sates the elemental vampire because the feed is usually always clean, always abundant, and there isn't a need to filter. It's possible to feed just off of a slight breeze of wind with nothing more than a deep inhalation.
Sexual/Tantric Vampirism
This form of Vampirism can be either Sanguine or Pranic. These are the kind of vampires that feed best off of sexual energies; their “hunger” is best sated by sexual encounters. Sexual/Tantric Vampires will indulge in blood feeding for maximum sexual pleasure but will also seek an energetic feed to satisfy their needs.
